Sounds good, Blondie. Maybe that's the sign as to who is mentally already 'out of here' - I'll make a note of all the stampeders right after the final prayer!

2007 Memorial Outline?
by V inanyone have access to this?
i need it for watchtower comments.
wouldn't it be nice to scoop the talk?.

You mean the outline is THE SAME for all congregations???
We used to have all this hype about having a visiting speaker - I guess to make us think we'd have an interesting Memorial talk - for a change, sort of with a different flavour...but if the outline is the same, then the talks would pretty well all be the same too...geez, you learn something new here every day...same s**t, different speaker...

Ok, gearing up for the Memorial - our annual HAVE TO attend. This is the first year that we will be showing up without having been to meetings in months. On the last meeting I was cajoled into attending, I was bombarded with the above question. Just wondering if any of you have some witty but concise comebacks I could use to deflect this insincere 'come back to the cult', without tripping over myself trying to make excuses why we haven't been there.
We plan on arriving just before start-up time, and sneaking out as quickly as possible when it's over, but I'm sure we'll be corralled by the 'elders'. You guys always come up with some real great comebacks...anyone? Thanks in advance...

Recent qutters, do you even have a social structure now?
by oompa inat least when i was in high school, i had lots of somewhat secret worldly friends.
i fit in well for guy with short hair.
my liberal elder/dad let me play on the tennis and soccer team....and go to the prom with my catholic girlfriend...talk about scandal.

A very limited one. And this is disconcerting to me, because I was always such a 'people person'. I have not been to a meeting in months, and have heard from only a handful of my supposed 'friends' - that in itself is a wake-up call that I am having to deal with - some days it is harder than others. There is generally no problem on weekdays.
But weekends give me so much more time. I feel I am re-discovering myself, which can't be an all-bad thing. Still, it is overwhelming to contemplate rebuilding a social network and that is what I am facing...
Like one of the new posters said in another thread, it would be great to find out just who, in our immediate area, is on the same page as we are, without the threat of being turned in, just to get support and a listening ear and maybe, in time, the basis for forming new frienships. But when I read a while back about pictures being taken at one of the apostafests, it kind of scared me from attending for fear of reprisal (extended family still in)...that was a bit sad, and I actually miss Stealth...too bad he isn't with us anymore (not to hijack your thread)

How much trouble will I get into if I send this letter?
by inkling inok, so this is a unsent letter to a quite understanding and slightly .
odd jw friend.
we have had conversations in the past about my "doubts".

inkling:
Absolutely great letter! But, if you're 'afraid to send it', don't. That's your answer...trust your feelings. I think you 'know' in your gut, it will do no good. Because it is appealing to someone else's mind, and 'minds' are about more than 'minds', they are a reflection of our guts...I know that sounds very convoluted but it is how I have come to see things. If you feed him very small tidbits, you may get somewhere...just something I've been learning lately.
But the letter is a keeper.

Questioning Russell's background is gossip, so don't do it
by Robert7 inso i attended the sunday meeting yesterday, and i saw an example of a preemptive strike against those questioning the borg's russel and rutherford.. after about 25 minutes of the talk of blah blah blah (i cannot even recall any details) the speaker concludes by saying (paraphrased):.
"there are those who wonder about the allegations made against russel and rutherford.
we do not know them, so isn't that gossip?

I can confirm that in one of the last CO's talks I heard, flowing praise was heaped on Charles T. Russell as one of the supreme seekers after truth - it was such an odd interjection in his otherwise talk (the gist of which I can not now remember) that it appeared to me to be a blatant plug for the man...
I think the borg is aware of all the negative publicity and aura around the man on the internet and is trying to counterbalance this - but too little, too late, and the truth will eventually OUT.
Like you said, the more they do this, the more desperate they appear. Good on them!
